Physical Therapy

Physical therapy, a profession accepted and practiced worldwide, is a practice of using objective and subjective assessment followed by treatment. Your first visit will include an evaluation of your muscle skeletal system and underlying structure to identify current and potential problems. Based on the results of the examination, and considering your specific goals, we will design a plan of care to include appropriate interventions and will propose a timetable to achieve these goals and optimize your function. We use manual techniques including massage, stretching and myofacial release often in concert with modalities such as hot/cold packs, electric stim to provide relief. You will be provided with instructions for a home program which may include exercises to facilitate your recovery.

Frequently treated conditions at Purple Iris are low back and SI pain, pre-op/post-op knee and hip surgery, painful joints, frozen shoulder, tendonitis, pain from arthritis, rotator cuff rehab, and connective tissue disorders.

You should feel comfortable asking your physical therapist any questions regarding your course of care, including specifics regarding interventions and expectations. In the state of California, a prescription for therapy is not required, however, we like working with your physician as part of your health care team. Physical therapy is often covered by insurance, but please keep in mind that Purple Iris is not a part of any insurance network.
