PHYSICAL THERAPY
Physical therapy, a profession accepted
and practiced worldwide, is a practice of using objective
and subjective assessment. Your first visit should include an
evaluation by the physical therapist. We will perform an examination to
identify current and potential problems. Based on the results of the
examination, and considering your specific goals, we will design a plan
of care to include specific interventions and will propose a timetable
to achieve these goals and optimize your function. We use manual
techniques including massage and stretching techniques, as well as
facilitation using hands or tools to provide relief. You will be
provided with instructions to perform exercises at home to facilitate
your recovery.
Frequently treated conditions at Purple
Iris are low back and SI pain, pre-op/post-op knee and hip surgery,
painful joints, frozen shoulder, tendonitis, pain from arthritis,
rotator cuff rehab, and connective tissue disorders.
You should feel comfortable asking
your physical therapist any questions regarding your course of care,
including specifics regarding interventions and
expectations. In the
state of California you do not require a prescription for therapy;
however, we like working with your physician as part of your health care
team. Physical therapy is often covered by insurance, but please keep in
mind that Purple Iris is not a part of any network. Although we work
with you to get reimbursement for treatments, some insurance providers
will not pay our fees and you will be responsible for the balance.
